    Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News, Virginia is currently seeking a night shift Pharmacy Tech / Medication History Tech. 

     

    Job Summary: Works under the supervision of Pharmacists. Responsible for collecting an accurate medication and allergy history for admitted patients. Assists pharmacists in performing routine duties as required. Performs pharmacy related duties in compliance with department policies and procedures. Arranges sequence and timing of work to meet normal and variable work requirements. Provides technical support in any or all of the following pharmacy functions. Performs other duties as assigned. Available to work all shifts.

    Riverside began serving the Virginia Peninsula community in 1916. In 1963, Riverside moved to the present 72-acre location in Newport News on J. Clyde Morris Boulevard. A 450-bed facility, Riverside Regional Medical Center is the Virginia Peninsulas most comprehensive medical facility combining the most recent computerized medical technology with a healing environment. The Pavilion is a 250,000 sq. ft., $107 million, 3-story addition to Riverside Regional Medical Center, which opened in 2013. This acute care facility provides a regional cancer care center, the Peninsula regions only comprehensive stroke center, the areas only open-heart surgery program, the regions only Level II Trauma Center, and a cornerstone neurosciences program that includes the Chesapeake, Riverside and University of Virginia Radiosurgery Center.

    Qualifications

    Education: High School Graduate preferred for pharmacy tech. For pharmacy intern, high school diploma and active in pharmacy school.

    Experience: A minimum of 1 year previous pharmacy technician experience preferred. In lieu of previous experience, must hold certification from PTCB or other nationally accredited organization preferred.

    Certification/Licensure: For Pharmacy Technician, licensure with Virginia state required and PTCB (or other national certification) Required within 9 months of hire. For Pharmacy Intern, must have Virginia State pharmacy intern license only.
