The HIMS Analyst reports to the Manager and/or Director of Health Information Management Services (HIMS). The person in this position is responsible for all aspects of HIMS including interaction with patients the general public communication with Riverside network physicians and contact with hospital treatment teams. Indexes scanned documents through point-of-service workflow and then reviews committed patient care documentation for accuracy. Reviews and analyzes the electronic medical record for completeness and precision following departmental organizational and regulatory guidelines. Must be able to facilitate timely investigation and retrieval of required documentation to ensure record completion and coding for hospital reimbursement. Assists physicians in completing electronic medical records and trains and assists physicians in use of clinical applications for chart completion. Supports patient care and other hospital functions ensuring dictated reports are transcribed edited and routed correctly within the time frames defined in the Rules and Regulations of the Medical Staff Bylaws. Participates in the development and delivery of HIMS staff education training and orientation. Sets the example for the department as the expert in accurate thorough and effective work processes. Acts as a liaison between the HIMS department and departments providing consistent and relevant detailed information on issues and trends. This position may be required to work from home as needed which requires an internet connection computer and phone access. A HIMS Analyst must be skilled in problem solving have an aptitude for learning demonstrate critical thinking attention to detail work independently and ability to make sound business judgments.
Education: High School Diploma/GED required.
Experience: Minimum 6 months experience in HIM department or medical office. Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or actively enrolled in a college HIM program is acceptable in lieu of experience.
Hours: Sunday-Thursday, 7:00am-3:30pm or 3:00pm-11:30pm
