  • Overview

    Works under the supervision of the Vice President - Finance. For the employees under the direction of the Director he/she schedules their work evaluates their performance resolves employee complaints and administers discipline when necessary. Additionally for the employee group the Director is responsible for the quality of work the productivity of the group the morale of the work group the expense (labor and capital) for the area the working relationship with other departments and employee adherence to health system and departmental policies procedures and guidelines. The Accounting Director is responsible for the accounting process and year end audit process. The Director assists in coordination with the Administrators in the preparation the annual operating and capital budget. The Director is responsible for the accurate preparation of financial statements Medicare and Medicaid cost reports tax returns (income sales and property) VANHA Benchmark submissions Virginia Health Information filings external financial statement audits Medicaid audits actuarial reporting including entrance fee amortization annual survey and other financial reporting. The director will also perform other duties as assigned.


    Education: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration with a Concentration in Accounting required. MBA preferred but not required.

    Experience: Three years prior experience as an Accountant required with demonstrated ability to use seasoned judgment in accounting determinations. Management experience preferred but not required. Experience with various computer applications required.

    Certifications: CPA (Certified Public Accountant), CMA (Certified Management Accountant), or Fellow HFMA (Hospital Financial Management Association) preferred.
