Overview

Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News, Virginia is currently seeking a labor pool (as needed) Childbirth Instructor Prep.

 

Job Summary: Works under the direction of the Maternal Child Coordinator Women and Infant Care Complex. Responsible for teaching a variety of outpatient prenatal and parenting classes related to childbirth and infant care in a group class setting or one-to one. Instructor/Educator plans prioritizes and implements educational programs/classes which are in compliance with ACOG APA and AWHONN objectives meeting hospital current standards (evidence based practice). Able to perform tours of Labor and Delivery and Women and Infant Care using the most updated information from departments. Performs other duties as assigned.

Riverside began serving the Virginia Peninsula community in 1916. In 1963, Riverside moved to the present 72-acre location in Newport News on J. Clyde Morris Boulevard. A 450-bed facility, Riverside Regional Medical Center is the Virginia Peninsulas most comprehensive medical facility combining the most recent computerized medical technology with a healing environment. The Pavilion is a 250,000 sq. ft., $107 million, 3-story addition to Riverside Regional Medical Center, which opened in 2013. This acute care facility provides a regional cancer care center, the Peninsula regions only comprehensive stroke center, the areas only open-heart surgery program, the regions only Level II Trauma Center, and a cornerstone neurosciences program that includes the Chesapeake, Riverside and University of Virginia Radiosurgery Center.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree in related area preferred.

Experience: Prefer experience teaching in a healthcare education setting.

Certification/Licensure: Certification in an accredited Childbirth preparation course required (i.e., Lamaze, CAPPA, etc.) and/or Registered Nurse with experience in teaching Women's and Infant Care. CPR preferred.
