Overview

Works under the supervision of the physician Clinical Coordinator and Office Manager. The Ultrasonographer performs a variety of complex specialized tasks utilizing ultrasound to assist the physician in providing quality care in a medical office setting. The Ultrasonographer must be able to demonstrate the knowledge required to provide clinically appropriate interactions with patients in order to assist in their diagnosis and treatments. In addition the Ultrasonographer must maintain an updated working knowledge of new techniques and procedures.

The Peninsula has over 30 specialty practices and 14 primary care practices. The peninsula in southeast Virginia is bounded by the York River, James River, Hampton Roads and Chesapeake Bay. It is sometimes known as the Lower Peninsula to distinguish it from two other peninsulas to the north (Middle Peninsula and Northern Neck). With a population of 1.8 million people, it is the seventh-largest metropolitan area in the Southeast and the 32nd largest in the United States. The Virginia Peninsula is a diverse area made up of many neighboring cities with unique character and opportunities. The area is very unique with a large number of military bases and several large colleges and universities as well as other large healthcare systems. The attractions are endless with so many historical sites to visit and a long list of museums and theaters.

Qualifications

EDUCATION: Completion of a 12 month CAAHEP approved school of Ultrasound Technology

EXPERIENCE: Two years of Ultrasonographer experience preferably in an Obstetrics and Gynecology practice

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION: ARDMS Certification. Current CPR Certification Required.
