Works under the direction of the senior lead therapist and the Director of Radiation Oncology Services. Functioning as a team member the radiation therapist applies ionizing radiation in accordance with the prescription and instructions from the radiation oncologist. Demonstrates excellent knowledge of the concepts of radiation therapy. Collaborates with the physics staff for patient set-up and planning. Performs QA on the treatment and imaging equipment as required. Maintains radiation therapy certification through ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologies) Complies with National Patient Safety Goals HIPPA guidelines and Corporate Compliance polices. Participates in quality and customer service programs and meets all CBL CME requirements. This employee must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient serviced by his or her assigned department. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the human life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patients status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his or her age-specific needs and to provide the care needed as described in the departmental policy and procedure guide.


Education: Graduate of an accredited school of professional Radiation Therapy.

Experience: One year experience in clinical setting preferred. Experience acquired from an approved radiation therapy program on caring for cancer patients, operation of a linear accelerator, CT simulator, and an excellent working knowledge of radiation safety.

Certification/Licensure: Must be registered or eligible for registration by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. Must be CPR certified.
