Responsibilities

This person works under the supervision of the Total Rewards System Director with indirect supervision by the Benefits Manager and is a member of the leave management team. Following appropriate practice, this person:

  • is responsible for processing medical leave request under RHS leave management program (to include FMLA, Medical LOA, USERRA, Disability) ensuring compliance with Riverside Health System policies and federal and state leave regulations with a focus on integrated leave management.
  • provides instruction, guidance, and excellent customer service to employees, managers, and human resources professionals regarding the various leave of absence policies and processes.
  • must accurately maintain the medical leave request tracking system to ensure confidence in data and reporting to meet regulatory requirements.
  • will be responsible for accurate timekeeping for employees on FMLA approved leave and ensure any paid leave benefits are applied per RHS policies.
  • continuously participates to improve overall process efficiency accuracy and regulatory requirements.
  • collaborates with leave management team, regional occupational health nurses, and HR Business Partners as appropriate.
  • advises employee and leader of HR compliance requirements regarding paid leave benefits, FMLA, ADA, and disability processes policies and laws.
  • demonstrates empathy and adheres to HIPAA and regulatory requirements.
  • demonstrates strong computer and communication skills.

Qualifications

Education:

- Bachelors Degree in Human Resources or a similar field is required.

- Five years of leave management (FMLA, ADA, etc.) experience will be accepted in lieu of degree.

Experience:

- Three to five years of HR experience and interpreting policies is required.

- Experience working with disability, FMLA, ADA, workers comp and/or return-to-work case management is preferred.

Certification:

- PHR or Leave Management Specialist Certification is preferred.
