Works under the supervision of the OR Clinical and Administrative Directors as well as the OR Supervisors. Assists with the coordination of nursing care and equipment requirements for surgical procedures in the Operating Room Preoperative and Post-Operative units. Responsible for the accounting of inventory preparation and maintenance of equipment instrumentation and supplies as well as all historical and statistical data and records associated with a wide range of products. Is an expert in maintaining records working in various computer generated products and spreadsheets. Requires familiarization and utilization of simple to complex equipment used throughout Perioperative Services. Requires the understanding of cleaning and maintenance procedures as well as the life expectancy and replenishment of equipment and supplies in order to maintain quality patient care. Participates in quality patient assurance in-service and customer service programs. Responsible for monitoring the surgical schedule for equipment and supply needs; prepares for daily case readiness supports the Specialty Nurses with the surgeon preference cards and for identifying communicating and educating service changes. Assist Directors and Supervisors throughout the budget process regarding capital equipment requests within Riverside Surgical Services. Collaborates with internal and external agencies to aid leadership in the procurement control and maintenance of all equipment within Surgical Services. Covers the Equipment Manager whenever possible or as the schedule dictates. Able to maintain proficiency as a Surgical Tech and perform associated duties in the Operating Room.

A 450-bed facility, Riverside Regional Medical Center is the Virginia Peninsulas most comprehensive medical facility combining the most recent computerized medical technology with a healing environment. The Pavilion is a 250,000 sq. ft., $107 million, 3-story addition to Riverside Regional Medical Center, which opened in 2013. This acute care facility provides a regional cancer care center, the Peninsula regions only comprehensive stroke center, the areas only open-heart surgery program, the regions only Level II Trauma Center, and a cornerstone neurosciences program that includes the Chesapeake, Riverside and University of Virginia Radiosurgery Center.


Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technician program or equivalent preferred.

Two years of operating room experience required.

Certification as a Surgical Technician or a BioMed Certification required.
