    This position works under the supervision of the Office Manager Physicians and/or Clinical Coordinator/Supervisor. The Certified Ophthalmic Assistant or Certified Medical Assistant greets the patient and reviews the complaint. Performs and records pertinent clinical measures to include visual acuities slit lamp exam and any other necessary diagnostic test. The COA facilitates patient education through brochures and videos. The COA prepares prescription refills for the physician to review and sign. The COA is also responsible for preparing referral and dictation letters returning calls to patients and pharmacies with medical questions.

    Education: High School Graduate or GED Equivalent. AAO Homestudy course to be completed within 6 months of employment.

    Experience: 1 year in a Medical Office

    Licensure/Certification: JCAHPO, Certified Ophthalmic Assistant
