Works under the supervision of the Manager/Supervisor Director and Medical Director of Respiratory Care Services. The Respiratory Care Practitioner is responsible for the planning executing and evaluating the total Respiratory Care of assigned patients. The Respiratory Care Practitioner utilizes current evidenced based Respiratory Care Practice to care for each patient based on the physiological psychosocial and cultural diversity. Works under the direction of the leadership team to provided respiratory services associated with and in accordance with standards of excellence established by Riverside Health System and facility goals and strategic plans. Responsible for assuring safe practices as referenced in the National Patient Safety Goals and supports best practices as recommended by the American Association of Respiratory Care.
Riverside Walter Reed Hospital is a 67-bed acute care facility located in Gloucester, Virginia. With 24-hour emergency services, a 12,000 square foot Intensive Care Unit, a complete range of outpatient services, a highly professional, caring staff and more than 50 outstanding area physicians, Riverside Walter Reed provides comprehensive health care services to the communities of the Middle Peninsula. The Middle Peninsula is bordered on the south by the York River and the lower Chesapeake Bay on the east. Growth in the Peninsula area has encouraged development in the Gloucester Point and the Courthouse regions of Gloucester.
Education: Associates or Bachelors degree in Respiratory Care required.
Education: Previous respiratory care experience of one year preferred. Must be able to read and comprehend, manipulate numbers, basic computer use and interpret data. Most possess comprehensive knowledge of respiratory process and protocols.
Licensure/Certification: Certified or Registered Respiratory Therapist by the National Board of Respiratory Care and licensed in the state of Virginia, BLS certification required. ACLS required within 1 year of employment. PALS preferred.
Hours: 12-hour days - some rotating nights - Part Time
