    The Respiratory Care Department at Riverside Walter Reed Hospital is seeking experienced as well as new graduate Respiratory Therapists. Riverside Walter Reed Hospital  is located in Gloucester, Virginia, on the Middle Peninsula. With water all around us, we are close to beaches as well as historical Yorktown, Williamsburg and Jamestown.  

     

     The Respiratory Care Practitioner is responsible for the planning executing and evaluating the total Respiratory Care of assigned patients. The Respiratory Care Practitioner utilizes current evidenced based Respiratory Care Practice to care for each patient based on the physiological, psychosocial and cultural diversity. 

    Riverside Walter Reed Hospital  is a small community  67 bed acute care facility with a 12 bed Intensive care Unit.  Recent new construction additions include a 36 private room Med Surg unit; an expanded  22 bed Emergency Room and a new Surgical Services Suite. We also have outpatient services located on campus and a Wellness and Fitness Center. We are also a Certified Chest Pain and Stroke Center. Respiratory Therapists maintain ACLS Certification and Advanced Airway Management certification is available. We are primary team members in emergent situations to include Code Blue and Rapid Response events, with primary responsibility for airway management. Respiratory Care at Riverside Walter Reed  is evidence based and protocol driven, facilitating autonomy and an interdisciplinary team approach to patient care.

    Qualifications

    Education: Associates or Bachelors degree in Respiratory Care required.

    Education: Previous respiratory care experience of one year preferred. Must be able to read and comprehend, manipulate numbers, basic computer use and interpret data. Most possess comprehensive knowledge of respiratory process and protocols.

    Licensure/Certification: Certified or Registered Respiratory Therapist by the National Board of Respiratory Care and licensed in the state of Virginia, BLS certification required. ACLS required within 1 year of employment. PALS preferred.

    Hours: 12-hour shifts- Night Shift - Full Time and Labor Pool Available
