The Cardiac Electro Physiologic (EP) Interventional Specialist (a subspecialty within the cardiac cath department) works under the supervision of a qualified physician, the department coordinator, and/or the Cardiovascular Imaging management team. The team member performs a variety of duties related to evaluation and treatment of patients with multiple cardiac arrhythmias (abnormal heart rhythms) to include the ability to scrub all procedures; proficient in EKG rhythm interpretation; ability to trouble shoot EKG variants, and sudden hemodynamic changes; strong knowledge base of EP specific hemodynamic monitoring / recording and understands the cardiac mapping integration; operates complex supporting equipment for intra cardiac echo, stimulation, and ablations; while assisting in the diagnostic cardiac and complex interventional EP procedures. Procedures would include but not limited to: Electro-Physiology studies, Tilt Table studies, Ablations, Trans-Septal Ablations, Cardiac Rhythm Management device Implants (Pacemakers, ICD, and BiVentricular) and programming, left atrial appendage procedures (Watchman); and other structural heart procedures performed in the OR Hybrid environment. The team member requires independent judgment, with ingenuity and initiative to apply safety and ALARA standards as applicable. Coordinates procedure specific patient care based on the age, physiological, psychosocial, and cultural diversity needs of the patient. The team member promotes a safe work environment for staff, as well as, for the customers while incorporating national patient safety initiatives. Participates in quality performance improvement, in-service education, and customer service programs. Requires the knowledge, utilization, and maintenance of complex equipment / inventory in order to maintain quality patient care.
